It was a fair day in late November. The Pirates of the Marquesas performed a routine raid on local radio station U.S.1 Radio 104.1. Capt. J.R. spied a fine wench sitting behind the sound board and, with Grace O'Malley's approval, took her hostage. Miss Lilly and First Mate Pickering set the ransom at a mere 10 bicycles - to be donated to kids who needed the them most at Christmas.
The Pirates made two mistakes when they raided the radio station and took the fair Miss Leah Fox hostage.
The first, was that the fair Miss Fox would prove to be an awful hostage. If she wasn't singing or talking at the top of her lungs in the bilge, she would spend her time redecorating. Have you ever seen a bilge with Chintz curtains and throw pillows? The rats couldn't even abide it. Finally, after what seemed like the voyage of Magellan, her ransom was paid and the fair Miss Leah was returned to her rightful station - radio station, that is.
The second mistake the pirates made was underestimating the value of their fair hostage. Instead of only 10 bicycles, the ransom grew to 65. Who knew the fair Miss Leah was as valuable as she was annoying.
The moral of the story: Pirates have a heart, too. All 65 bikes went to kids who maybe wouldn't have gotten anything for Christmas. And since, the Pirates of the Marquesas prefer to plunder in the Middle Keys, that's where the bounty stayed.
Now, whenever the pirates come to entertain, they'll collect a little extra just for the kids - Help if you can.
